Hypopressive Gymnastics is a combination of exercises for the abdominal muscles, the pelvic floor muscles and the trunk muscles created in the 1950s by the French physiotherapist Marcel Caufriezna in Belgium.

This combination of exercises produces a particular type of movement of the abdominal muscles (known as diaphragmatic aspiration maneuver) that has the property of pulling up the pelvis organs (bladder, uterus, ovaries, etc.), repositioning them and reinforcing the pelvic floor. .

More than a third of women are unable to properly contract their pelvic floor muscles or maintain active abdominals at rest, simply because they have no proprioceptive notion of their location, and how to contract them.

In addition to being an excellent exercise to train the contraction of the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, more than that, it trains the dissociation (isolated contraction of each muscle) of these two contractions.

Recent studies show that hypopressive gymnastics has shown results in the improvement of genital prolapse of the most diverse degrees, as a way of re-education and active repositioning of Organs pelvic organs.

It is a method that is able to increase the resting tone, reducing the pressure on the abdominal cavity, and cause an involuntary activation of the muscles of the pelvic floor and abdominal band. Being a more comprehensive technique, it helps to normalize muscle tension, being very useful for posture (postural reeducation).

10 REASONS TO DO THE HYPOPRESSIVE METHOD

1. REDUCES ABDOMINAL PERIMETER:

Reducing waist circumference is one of the aesthetic objectives of most women and men for improvement in terms of aesthetics and health. Having a narrow waist implies having an efficient abdominal band, which is able to support the internal organs and which provides effective support to the spine.

Most people associate a flat belly with traditional and even isometric abs or a plank, but is it really so ?!

Dr. Marcel Caufriez, who has worked with women with pelvic floor problems for many years, found in his studies that traditional abdominals further worsened urinary incontinence problems, prolapses, abdominal diastasis and sexual discomfort.

The purpose of hypopressive exercises is to maintain the contraction of the abdominal and pelvic wall without having to make an effort, by increasing the tone of the abdominal fascia at rest.

two . REDUCES BACK PAIN:

Hypopressive exercises, by decreasing pressure, trigger decompression between the vertebrae, thus reducing discomfort and back pain. They also strengthen the abdominal fascia, providing greater stability to the lumbar spine.

3. IMPROVES SEXUAL FUNCTION:

By increasing blood flow and increasing sensation (proprioception) in the genital area, in turn increases sexual desire and provides greater control in all matters related to sex.

4. SPORT INCOME INCREASES:

The improvement of the respiratory muscles increases the number of red blood cells, and the improvement of posture and body biomechanics provide a great increase in athletic performance.

5. PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF URINARY INCONTINENCE.

Many studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of hypopressive exercises in substantially reducing urinary incontinence even in elderly women. Increased support of the pelvic floor, repositioning of the bladder and other pelvic organs.

6. PREVENTION OF HERNIAS:

Inguinal hernias (abdominal, umbilical, intervertebral disc, vaginal) and pubalgia are caused by two factors:

1st - an increase in pressure on the abdominal wall and pelvic floor.

2nd - fabric that has no ability to hold.

Hypopressive exercises increase the muscle tone of the fascia, thus preventing the increase in pressure due to effort, coughing, sports that cause the hernias.

7. EXCELLENT PRE AND POST-DELIVERY METHOD:

The Hypopressive method appeared in postpartum physiotherapy and is considered the best method of preparation for childbirth and recovery, it is applied in hospitals and clinics in many countries. It can be applied by pregnant women during labor, in order to favor the intensity of uterine contraction - which leads to a decrease in the time of labor.

Preparing the pregnant woman for this moment, makes labor an experience of greater concentration in muscle work, and less attention to pain, decreasing the sensitivity in each of the contractions.

Hypopressive exercises up to two days after delivery are a precious help in reducing the pain associated with this phase (return of the uterus to its position).

8. IMPROVES PULMONARY CAPACITY:

It improves the work of the inspiratory and expiratory muscles, as well as the absorption and use of oxygen, being indicated for asthma problems.

9. IMPROVES POSTURE AND BALANCE:

The Hypopressive Method provides a global regulation of muscle tone, decreasing the excess tone of some muscle groups and improving those with muscle tone deficit, which is called normalization, providing postural improvements in a few sessions.

10. IMPROVES AND PREVENTS THE “FALL” OF INTERNAL ORGANS:

Diaphragmatic aspiration that occurs inside the abdomen, by decreasing intra-abdominal pressure, reposition the bladder, rectum and, in the case of women, the uterus.
